This week in the life…

Greetings!

Hi everyone!

It’s been an interesting week. A week and a half ago I did a maternity shoot and last week showed a few of those images. The rest are at the end of the gallery this week. The new mama to be said she’d forgotten to get a shot with her mask so she could have a reminder of the strange times she’s giving birth. Soooo, I photoshopped a mask on one of the images. Fun when it works.

Then, last Sunday I shot with Rachel Watson here at Bonita Creek. There are a few of the edits so far in the gallery (creek, tub, tree). She’s a sweetie and her S.O., Robby, was the light stand and helped the styling. It was an exhausting day that included a 2 mile hike for us to get to that water fall. And yes, it was very cold. And yes, she did eventually feel her butt about half the hike home.

What makes those days exhausting isn’t really the physical part of it. At least not for the photogrpaher. We don’t get to pose in freezing cold water, snow, on a blistering sand dune, etc. For us it’s having to think constantly what might make a good picture. It’s pretty stressful to be creative on the fly. And with others counting on you.

Tomorrow I have my third shoot of the year. If it wasn’t stressful enough, this time there are three people coming up for the day, a male and two females. Like most of my shoots, I’ve worked with all of them before. The male is actually in the three hotest pictures in the gallery today. Gary is a very respectful model and has a pretty good set of muscles to make any image look powerful. Tomorrow will be fun, interesting, creative, and exhausting.

In other areas of my life, we are still getting our little trailer ready for short trips for photography or just see friends close by. Ways we can distance and still stay in touch. I’m not stressing over not socializing, but I sure don’t like this much. Many apparently don’t, as evidenced by the hordes of campers who invaded the forest over the holiday weekend. We’ve never seen so many people up here. I just hope it’s not the beginning of a huge second wave.

And today I ordered new lumber to replace the wooden steps we have up here that are suffering from wood rot. This month is Bonita’s 20th birthday, so she needs some work. And we are replacing all of the fire extinguishers (one in every room) and picked up an emergency ladder that we could use to escape if there was a fire that blocked our exit from the upper floor. Up here we can’t count on 911 to arrive within 20-30 minutes, so we do everything we can to protect ourselves. No curtains, just metal blinds, and the brush cleared away from the house for the most part.

So, thank you all for your support. Enjoy the art. Some new, some older, all fun. Have some ice cream and wash your hands.
