This week in the life…

Happy Wednesday!!

Greetings!!

To say it’s been a busy week would be a understatement this week. Linda, Elley, and I spent Friday morning until Monday night traveling to the Huntington Beach area in California. We shot some on the beach that afternoon and evening. Those are the sunset you see, Then on Saturday we had 8 students in a studio and gave a 5 hour Fine Art Nude Lighting class. And then on Sunday, as Elley was booked up for 9 hours of shoots with the locals, I went to meet a new model to the south and shot for about 6 hours in her home and the beach. Then on Monday morning I hit the beach again with Elley before heading back to Arizona and our own beds.

It was Elley’s first time shooting on the beach, so it was special and I wanted to get her as many good images as I could. We actually took over 1,000 shots so I expect we’ll see “Elley on the beach art” for months to come. Only three so far since I only have a few days to edit. I want to thank Ernest Delisanti for showing us a good beach to shoot on that’s not crowded and helping Elley book up her second day. Great host! And, of course, Linda for some of the lighting and generally putting up with me. The ultimate chore.

The new model, Nikole, was a very pleasant surprise. I knew she was a life coach and is hyper positive and beautiful inside and out. I had a ball shooting with her and talking about life. These are her first nude photos and she’s understandably excited to see them, because they are beautiful. I knew they would be. I am very glad she shared herself with my camera and I for the day. Great fun! And yes, there will be a good number of new images you’ll see in future Museletters from that shoot. Getting messy hair and no smiles were a challenge. (grin)

In 4 hours from now I will have a total backup of all of my work from the last 5 years…just finishing the copies. It’s all now on a RAID5 backup drive…well, 4 drives and RAID5 means any of the 4 disks can fail and I loose nothing. I just plug in a new drive and it goes back to being safe again in a few hours. I feel better now. BUT, I’m going to add another networked RAID5 that will be a backup to this drive so I’ll have all of the data on two systems. All of the finished (edited) work will also be in the cloud for safe keeping. This geek is happy. All total those drives equal 64 terabytes. Usable space will be 48 terabytes. Those numbers will always boggle my mind. I still have my original computer here and it has lights and switches on the front and 17 kilobytes of memory and a cassette tape recorder for storage. Whew!! 1975 was a good year to cut yourself on the bleeding edge of technology.

So, assuming you even read my ramblings (grin) here’s a little about the images in the first gallery. I mixed in some before and after as well as some behind the scenes so you can see how they were lit up. I hope you enjoy seeing some of the magic. You’ll see a few from the class too.

The second gallery will be some hand picked previous images just for your enjoyment (I hope).

New images…

And, here are some from one of my all time favorite models and a good friend. Mother of four and grandmother and a beautiful person from the hair on her head and all the way down, inside and out. I miss working with her but love visiting with her.

Until next week….
