Greetings,

Good Wednesday to you. It’s been a quiet week here with one shoot with the beautiful Diana. I’ve worked many times with her, and there are three new images in the gallery of this shoot. She’s such a sweetie. We even went to a 101 overpass and did some of the shoot. Pretty noisy, with no doubt a thousand cars shooting under us in the few minutes we were there. But, as you’ll see, it’s a fascinating design and worth it. Poor Diana couldn’t hear the camera clicking. It was wide enough that we didn’t have to worry about anyone seeing us up there. And it is a walking bridge. I have a problem doing lingerie or topless on busy streets or intersections. It might work in New York City or Paris, but it would cause wrecks and/or heart attacks here.

It is unfortunate that here in America, we are so unenlightened. Any kind of nudity is instantly connected to sex in the minds of a majority of people. Even a mother breastfeeding sets some people off. In Europe and much of the world, nudity is not shocking, it is seen as normal and people don’t freak out over it. It is a self-perpetuating problem here. If the morality police didn’t constantly gasp at nakedness, it would not be a problem.

I’m capturing the beauty of the female human as best I can. I see beauty in the twists and turns and light play and how it fades in and out of those curves. There is a distinct line between being sensual and sexual, and I don’t cross it. I hope my art triggers your sense of beauty.

Well, our class on June 17th only has three spots left out of ten. That is unheard of in past sessions where many wait until the last minute to sign up. Heck, half of those signed up came last year. That tells me they have as much fun as I did and want to enjoy that again. I am holding a little shop talk time at my studio afterward for anyone who would like to come, and the next day I’ll be giving a 2-hour Zoom class on editing from shots taken at the course.

If you are a photographer and want to sign up, HERE YOU GO!

This week’s video is Elley doing some prop work with a chair and a bit of lingerie. It is a good insight into our fun relationship when we shoot. And she even says a joke that seems to have totally flown over my head. I do get into the zone when I’m thinking about lighting arrangement, and at that moment, at least, I have a good excuse for not hearing someone. The rest of the time, I have no excuse. Still happens.

Stay open-minded and curious, my friends!

Dave
