Greetings, follow carbon units,
Today, I have given up on T-Mobile as an internet provider up here in the forest. At first, things were fine, but now I have to reboot our router two or three times a day to restore our speeds. I expect they got greedy and oversold their capabilities—very typical corporate behavior.
I ordered a Starlink system for the home. Although I’m not a fan of the individual involved, as a company, the people seem to have it all figured out. So, either by the next Museletter or the one after, there will be the return of the BTS videos. Right now, it would take me half the night to upload a 5-minute video.
I’m pretty confident that Starlink will be fine because I’m not new to it. I have an RV version for camping, but that’s a bit pricy to run, so we’ll hold out with reboots for a while. On the plus side, we are less likely to doom scroll if downloads are slow. That would be a good habit to break.
Speaking of that, the days up here at 6K feet are still in the 90’s. We use the AC almost every day for 6-7 hours. Our solar system helps us break even when we have to run those monsters. We used to only need AC for a couple of days a YEAR!!
Lately, I’ve spent the cool evenings and mornings more and more just sitting on the deck swing and enjoying the cool fresh air and hearing nature happen. Typically, I can hear jets flying over, coming in from Europe, and all parts east. But at 35k feet or more, it’s faint. Lately, we have heard fighter jets buzzing around the rim country. That’s relatively new for us.
I’ve been on an editing streak, spending hours finding old shots and editing all new art from shots I’d passed over before. There always seems to be something. Sometimes I take a smaller section of a shot that only includes some curves for a unique look. Some little thing that is far better than being with the rest of the image. That’s a special kind of fun for me. You all don’t know that you aren’t seeing the entire image as taken. The framing in the post can be very different when I’ve had time to look at the possibilities more closely.
So, much of what you’ll see in the following few issues is all new art yet taken a while back. In some cases, the model still models, and in others, they have since moved on with their lives.
Over the next week, I hope to finish my tower project and improve the grounding and wire protection. A friend is bringing his backhoe to soften the dirt so we can lay some conduit.
Until next week!!
