Greetings,

It was a week to remember for sure. In four days, I had six shoots. It reminded me of the hectic days before the pandemic. Exhausting, but I kept up just fine, and that’s all I worried about. The creativity was there and fun. There will be a few new ones in this issue.

One of the shoots was with Elley and Griffin, two of my go-to models, and it will be the first time they have shot together. It went well because many of the 1,000 images have them both laughing. So there was that. I made a small video of some of that shoot. You can get a feeling of how much fun we were having.

Shooting with two models at the same time is extra challenging. Individually, it is easy to bring out the best features of that person—their best look for their hair, their pout, smile, or smirk. Now you add the second person, and you have a whole new mix of what is best for their look. How do you catch both at the right moment, doing what is a good look for both? It explains why there will be plenty that don’t work out. They are all great for memories, but fewer grab that perfect look.

It is fun directing two people you know well. Lines you never expect to come up with, like “Elley, lean on Griffin’s shoulder and look serious and with your right hand, pull her nightie so her boob is out”. It might take a few more shots as I get Griffin’s face and body responding best for the shot. But eventually, bam! And the longer we were at it, the faster we found the right shot. It was fun to feel the three of us incrementally synchronizing.

The warm-up for this last day of epicness was three days with ladies I admire and have worked with many times before. The first was Jessica, and I was the first to shoot her at her apartment. I found some mirror options I won’t explain. You’ll see, and I got to meet her partner, Travis, so that was great fun. Lots of natural light.

I also shot with Low Row, and she always gives me wonderful art, as did Makayla and Nikki. Whew!! So, for the first time in a long while, I have far more ‘new’ edits to do. It’s nice. Seeing new images of people I’ve known and shot for years is a strange feeling. Like a tickle. Or the first bite of a food you enjoy but haven’t had in a while—so many wonderful souls in my life. Thank you all!

A couple of issues back, I was feeling lonely and wished I shot more. Since I was going to be at the Chandler studio for a week, I asked some of my favorite muses if they would like to shoot. All but one set up a time with me. The one that didn’t wasn’t going to be in town. I guess I should ask more often, huh?

Great week!!

Until next week!! Enjoy art anywhere you can find it. Make it a priority.
