Greetings,

I hope you all have had an amazing week so far. We certainly have. They finished painting our house up here at Bonita and it certainly needed it…on two sides anyhow. And it looks awesome with green doors and light brownish with dark brownish trim, all leaning just a tiny bit towards green.

And, this morning we woke up to the rat we’ve been trying to chase down for weeks. Scratching in the wall at night and leaving little black bombs all over the garage just wasn’t going to work for us. I got serious and had several traps set the last few days. Baited with banana since it has a strong odor and that worked well. We also found one of our mouse traps missing. I just imagine a poor mouse dragging this trap behind them somewhere. Fortunately, they very rarely get into the house. I wish they all stayed outside because I hate killing anything.

This week I have a few new images and some older ones with Ariana. Such an amazing sweet young lady and mother of three. Driven and beautiful. I’m so lucky to work with her. And if you’d like to see some behind the scenes of several of these shots here is a cool little video we did. Linda was the camera operator and although you can hear us talking, I turned the video into more of a training video showing what a shoot is like in real life. It’s certainly not the orgy some think shoots are. Check it out.

I’m starting to get images together for more large format coffee table style books. They will be available in PDF as well as print. There has been so many great shoots since my last book. I’m sorting through them with several themes in mind. Probably B&W, nude, implied, and some with the body parts I love to shoot. I expect I have more than enough for a body scape and smoke volume too. Stay tuned.

And, I’m all set up to start creating more training videos, so that will be fun. We’ll be back in Chandler starting the first part of November and that’s where I’ll start recording. I’d like to do some that go from concept of the image to the print. Seeing the model during the shoot and how it is lit and what I’m thinking as I take it, then actually editing that image, and even printing it to show the whole process from click to print. I’m big on mindset in each moment. Knowing how an artist is thinking when creating is something we don’t get to experience much.

In a few weeks I’ll be 69. That gives me a mild case of the WTFs. I never thought I’d ever be that old, but when I did give it any thought, I hoped I would still be young at heart and mind. I think I am. Being around young people has been a huge benefit. Their youth rubs off on me and that keeps me from thinking or feeling 69. After all, it’s just a number. With photography, electronics design projects, my radios, and a sweet wife to keep my mind going, I’m pretty happy each day I wake up. And frankly, as long as I ‘get up’ to ‘go pee’ in the middle of the night instead of the other way around, I’m fine.

Tomorrow we head to Chandler for a one day trip. Breakfast at Kneaders and picking up some angel wings and steam punk wardrobe to shoot with Kileen next week here at Bonita. And, of course, moving shit from one home to the other. That’s what happens when you have two nests. Always moving sticks from one to the other.

And we are talking with a solar supplier/installer about a system here at Bonita. I’m excited, BUT, I have to check out a couple of their installations to see how much radio interference they have. Solar is great, but not at the expense of my life long hobby.

Until next week, enjoy!!! And stay safe.

Dave
