Greetings,

Less than two weeks until Christmas, and three to 2022. That year still sounds very Scifi to me. Christmas without snow has just never felt like Christmas. And 2022 was supposed to be planet Earth with all renewable energy and everyone had learned that wars are a waste of resources and lives. So we all got together and helped make the planet greener and happier. Well, it might snow at Bonita next week when we are there. So there is that.

Well, since last week I’ve had the largest string of shoots in a couple years. Risky to be sure. But we clean everything between visitors and wash our hands well. I still feel Linda and I should be just enjoying a quiet life at Bonita Creek until things settle down. There is that fine balance between wanting to get back to normal vs. staying safe. Actually, we should be fine even if we did catch C19, but something like long Covid and a foggy brain would be devastating to me. Or Linda. We all have to weigh how we want our lives to be with safety. I’d hate to infect a string of people…that would suck.

So, last Thursday I got to work with Taylor Mason again and we captured a few nice images in the hour we shot. She really looks like she walked out of one of my Dad’s Playboys. Griffin has that look too. So they are great fun to shoot and allows me to try to light them up like I remember those old Playboys were lit. Although, I’m more comfortable with darker lighting, so…

Then I had a Christmas shoot with Molly. She always has a nice costume and smile. And ageless beauty. Then Saturday I got to work with Nikole Michael in her AirB&B. Location work is always a fun challenge. This time it was really small and not a lot of options, but we still got a few great sets. After our shoot we went to downtown Scottsdale to find some food. She had a little white dress on but was cold so she wore the big fluffy white robe I’d brought to shoot her in. The looks we got on the street was hilarious. Who was this old guy with this beautiful young thing in her robe and heels. Playing with people’s heads is always fun. I just kick myself for not dragging my camera along and getting some shots.

Then today I got to shoot with Violet Pixie for the first time in many, many months. And we killed several looks. I haven’t even had a chance to look at those images, but they are loaded up for editing.

The cool part of the shoots I’ve done is that there have been/will be two new faces I hadn’t worked with. That’s strange to me, yet exciting. Especially since many of the regulars are moving on with their lives. I still think that is rude, but hey. (grin)

Two more shoots over the next two ways. Then we head to the forest home for a few weeks. Time to enjoy some hot cocoa, the fire place, and playing with radios and, of course, editing.

Some shoots are lining up for January but I’m going to keep them spread out. Maybe one a week at the most.

I was hoping I’d have the “Wide Open” podcast ready to release by now. I’m so close. I have an intro with music ready as well as the video clips. Organizing the video is the hardest part. I’m so close. And then I need to make more episodes while the ‘how to’ is still in my head. So just maybe it’ll be released by the next issue here.

Remember. Do something kind for someone every day. We are all in this mess together.

Until next week, enjoy!!! And stay safe.

Dave
