This week in the life…

Merry Christmas Eve eve. This means New Years is a week away and it will be grand to put 2020 in our hindsight.

It’s been a fun geeky week for me. After a string of little projects that were not working all that well, one morning I got up and everything I touched started working exactly as they should. That sure doesn’t happen often, but it’s nice once in a while at least.

As you all know, pretty much everything I’ve been editing has been from past shoots since Linda and I are just staying away from people all together. Well, there are two fairly large arrays of drives that have been holding my first 5 years of work and they have been shut down for a couple years now. I powered them back up again, somehow remembered the passwords, and went back in time. I found a shoot (actually it was four in a 2 week span in 2014) with Morgan where she had shaved her head for some of the shoots. That let me do some nice art. I revisited that set of shoots with her and some new edits are in this weeks gallery below.

As much as I miss shooting, it really hurts when people come to me and want to take a class. I love teaching…a lot!

So, in the gallery you’ll find a couple before and after shots. In one you will see how the lighting is done for the body scapes. As simple as that looks, it took me four different shoots to perfect the angles. Then a year later I learned to twist the model on the table to fine tune the way the light skimmed across their bodies.

The other was playing with a picture of Tayler leaning on the wall. (right) I wanted to play a little mind game by making her look like she was actually on the floor. It was just fun seeing what I could do to pull off the illusion.

On the computer front, I received a MacBook Pro 13” with their new M1 computer chip a few days ago. More for the fun of it, but Linda needed a new machine so she got my one year old MacBook Air. Not that I tend to let ‘need’ get in the way of ‘want’ when it comes to new toys.

So, once I fine tuned it to have the programs and settings I liked, I thought I’d test the battery life. Apple said it can play videos for 20 hours on one charge. So, I left it on over night doing a screen saver that loaded large files pretty constantly. The screen was 2/3 brightness. The next day I ran three 2 hour movies, so six hours of video, and it finally made it to 1% on the battery. 16.5 hours!!! I think Apple has figured out good battery management.

So, enjoy the gallery and happy holidays to you and your family and friends.

You all stay safe and enjoy the art.
