This week in the life…

Happy 20th all.

Well, it’s been a busy week in many respects here. Yesterday we waved as someone tossed money at us and drove off with our little Airstream Basecamp. We have a lot of memories with her even if we only had her for 3 years. Two month long trips up and down the west coast and a number of little trips. For an old guy like me, it’s nice to have a bathroom 20 feet behind me on trips. (grin). But she went with me on several little overnight photography trips and kept me warm at night. We’ll miss her. But we already have our eye on a Lance 1985 model. It may be a few months before we grab one up since the future of our freedom to roam is still in question.

Oh, and the bottle of wine image is because it is January 20th and I’m pretty happy we made it.

I did get a chance to edit often this week. Many of the images in this week’s gallery are new ones from old shoots. I guess one good thing that came from the virus is art that may have never been discovered and edited because of time. I’m sure most of the subjects of the art are happy to see new work in this draught.

Then again, a lot of the young ladies I’ve shot with in the last ten years have moved on, become mothers, started careers, and just done what we’ve all done, advanced to the next level(s). So, if you see me post on social media and not tag the model, there is either a reason or I’m just being cautious with their new life.

I ended up sending back the Loupedeck device I was going to use for editing. The main reason was that they finally admitted to me that it wasn’t ready for prime time with Photoshop. Thanks guys…I worked for 2 weeks trying everything, even bringing one of my computers back to factory settings in case some conflicting software was the problem. When a company isn’t up front with me they loose my respect. I can be loyal to a fault on a product I love until they show a lack of respect for me and my time. I guess that goes for corporations AND people. Meanwhile, I had a little device that is doing just fine for me and I ordered up a backup unit for travel and in case the other breaks. XP-PEN AC-19. I’m getting to where I don’t even have to look at it to slip from one command or adjustment to the next.

Tomorrow (Thursday - 01-21-21) I’m doing a zoom session and you are invited to come watch if you’d like. I’m going to talk about how I pick a hand full of pictures from a bucket full of shots. And then edit a picture live and add a background and you could watch it transform from the original to the finished image. It’s all just for fun and, of course, I’ll be answering questions throughout the session.
