Greetings,

It has been an uneventful week here in Chandler this week. It seems like forever since there has been a shoot here. Forever being about a week. The studio was rented for a few hours in the middle. And I love that. I don’t like seeing it empty when there is so much creating to do. I’ve seen this before, though. The calm before the storm. It’ll get busy soon, and I don’t know how I will manage to make it all happen. Meanwhile, naps and VR games and editing and playing with my radios should keep me busy. Did I mention naps?

I was chatting with Elley about her wedding in May, and before the evening was over, I found myself ordained to perform the ceremony. I would have rather had that power as a starship captain, but filling out a form on the net seemed to work for now. I will not give up on the starship option if the opportunity presents itself.

This last week or so has been filled with a heavy dose of composited images. They have to be my favorite types of art to do. I can edit a usual image in 15-20 minutes. A composite takes 1-2 hours and a lot of thought and putting a lot of pieces to a puzzle together that I can only see in my head. I’d have to say that the composites are the most satisfying to do because of the added creative aspects of them. Completely setting the mood of a scene. I’ve put a few before and after images in this week’s gallery.

There are some things in life I’ve always been curious about but never had the time to explore. Meditation is one of those things. So, I researched and found a program called Tripp that works on my VR headset. I’ve used it for a couple of days to put my mind in a more peaceful and caring state. It is certainly interesting and I can feel the effect. Oh, I still play racket ball and shoot some aliens, and that is relaxing too. In a different way. We’ll see how this goes. By the next issue, I will have used it for a week, so we’ll see.

On the geeky side, I’m getting to know the Sharpr3D CAD program well enough to design things now. I’ve designed three things and printed them. And they worked exactly as I expected them to. Like photography, where I take the photo and do everything in the middle and then print it and have it in my hand. Designing something and then printing it and having it in my hand is just as satisfying. Today I’m getting the parts to modernize my 3rd 3D printer so I can put them all to work using a centralized computer. A little printer farm as they are called.

And, Linda and I watched a season of an Amazon show called The Peripheral, and we really enjoyed it. A bit of time travel and a plot, unlike anything we’ve seen before. Obviously, not Disney. (grin)

Stay curious, my friends!

Dave
