Greetings,

This will be my last Museletter. As a boomer under the age of 70. Yes, next week, I take my annual spin around the sun again, as we all do. I’ll have to admit I’m getting a little dizzy. But no, it’s not THE last Museletter by any means. Heck, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself every Tuesday as I scrape together another issue. Yardwork? Dishes? Travel the world? Head a Fortune 500 company? Heavens no. This is far more fun and fulfilling of my master’s degree in Show and Tell.

The week’s video is must see to the end. Witnessing a model's grace and dexterity is a sight to behold. So impressive that I added the security camera footage of the event. And they call us old folks Boomers!!

Last Thursday, Elley, her bo Dan, and I hit the road to a mansion in the wilds of the western gold country of Arizona. We planned to spend the night and shoot for two days. The infestation of wasps over the entire area for miles changed that to a one-day trip and a lot of dodging and running as needed. We did spend a good 5 hours there. Not only did we shoot some fantastic art, but I also did engagement photos for Elley and Dan.

At this location, there were some large and small rooms and all of the windows and doors were arched. It provided several options for lighting in some very fun and artsy ways. Some are in the gallery this week, and more will follow, I’m sure. Locations are so much fun just for the challenge of finding the art waiting to be created with the never before seen options.

I seem to have had a splash of shoots in a row. Almost every day for a week. I haven’t done that for years. For obvious reasons. But it is back to being reasonably quiet in the studio. I have a LOT of fresh images to edit, and the gallery is full of new edits this week. It felt good to go on location and then play in the studio again. All summer at Bonita is fun, but I do miss the studio.

Last week a model from my past started claiming I wasn’t letting her use the images we’d taken. She was reading my model release word for word and ignoring the fact that I tell every model they can use any images for anything they would like. She knows that. I’m one of the few photographers that will give a model ALL of the shot images so they can sell them on Only Fans or whatever they like. I never ask for a share of their profits. I pay them 50% of anything I make selling their images unless it’s in a book with dozens of people in it. If the share won’t buy a decent dinner, it’s not worth the math. I think I’ve made it clear to anyone who wants to know that I do my art to create it, not to get rich. Heck, I’d probably be typing this on a computer in a homeless shelter if that were the case. (grin). Some people look for things to be upset about, and finding none seems to force them to make something up. But, it makes them happy…

I hope you enjoy the images in the gallery. There are some portrait shots I’m incredibly proud of. I sense my style changing and refining a little. It’s probably just my imagination. I’ll probably look back at this in 5 years and ask myself what the hell was I thinking.

Don’t forget to watch the video to the end. Boomer!!

Stay excellent, happy, and healthy!

Dave
