Greetings!

Greetings! And thank you for supporting the Museletter with your eyes and comments. It has meant the world to me over the years.

When a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Probably, from a scientific point of view. But the drama of the fall and the bittersweet feeling of sadness that a mighty life is over. Art is like that in a way. What is an artist if they aren’t creating something for others to see?

In this issue there are mostly new edits, but from almost a decade ago. Two shoots, in particular, were held at an amazing home of Barney and Sandy in Tucson. They are such a wonderfully hospitable couple.

The image on the right is a new angle of the ‘Two ladies in the window” in the French Postcard style. It is in my top .1% of favorite images so I felt one more at a different angle would be wonderful. I think it turned out great.

A little story, one I’ve probably told before about this window and the images that came from using it, is a beautiful back story. You will see some photos with natural light here with these two in the bed in this bedroom. I shot them through the window because the natural light was just perfect and soft. The bed is massive, and the room is small. So, I shot from outside. As I finished shooting them on the bed, I turned to walk away and glanced back to see the open window, and I instantly envisioned what you see. I returned and asked the ladies to pose with their bottoms on the sill. As I was shooting and getting some fantastic shots, I noticed them swatting at themselves as if there were bugs on them. I asked what the problem was, and they said mosquitos were everywhere. I never saw one, nor did one bite me. I teased them that they were making it up, and we hurried through.

A while later, as I was editing the photos, I saw red welts on them that proved that, indeed, Mother natures’ little blood suckers were feasting on these brave ladies. I’m happy to report that neither of them succumbed to West Nile or Milaria. In the name of art!

There are also some new ones of Elley. The black strip images were, indeed, shot between two flash modifiers. So, as I shot these, I was seeing what the image would end up looking like. I know it looks photoshopped, but that is exactly how I saw her between the modifiers.

Some shots in this issue are admittedly a bit racy. In every instance, the male model had pants on. And you can bet there was a flurry of laughter after each set.

I signed up for a trip to Ireland in September to shoot for a week. I’ll go a week early and see if I can’t arrange some models to shoot with alone. It will undoubtedly be an excellent time for my camera and me.

I support an organization called Model Society. So many wonderful artists to inspire me. Check out their magazine!

And, we have a new photography class scheduled for May 11th!! It will be the third annual natural light class with Elley as the model. I’ll be adding a single light to the mix this year and Elley will have some new and unique outfits. Last year a good number of people who attended had come to the first one. They knew just how much fun it is. After five hours of shooting everyone was happy and exhausted.

Check it out!!
