Greetings,

It’s been a nice week here. Linda and I finished (pretty much) the split AC install for the studio and office. We are surprised now when this end of the house is actually cooler than the other. The opposite of what we’ve been used to since the studio was built.

And I broke it in with a shoot with Dania and Molly last Sunday. That was actually the only shoot for the week. It turned out nice, mostly fashion. Molly seems to like the end results so far.

Today I’m shooting some concept work with Violet so you’ll see some of that in next week’s Museletter. I hope to take my time and do some very specific types of lighting. I’ll capture some video on that shoot also. That would mean I have footage from 4 different shoots that I need to edit up and make shorts out of.

On Sunday I’m shooting with a new model and she’s a popular cosplayer so we’ll be doing something with pointy ears I expect and then some fashion-ish work. She has a really long neck, and that’s something I love with portraits. Short hair and long necks make for beautiful head shots.

Today I will be visiting with Colby Files, a photography friend who grew up with me in this artistic photography thing. It was fun to have someone growing with me to swap what we’d learned. The ups and downs we experienced as artists was expected. Like growing pains. One of us would get into a rut and think we’d hit a wall with our art. The other would offer encouragement and it always helped. Fortunately we ran in opposite cycles so we could take turns pulling each other out of a slump.

We’ve grown past that cycle thing and our confidence in our own work makes it nice. Either of us can do a shoot or sit down and edit a picture and know we’ll have some art in the end. That takes time and it was a nice lesson…and pay our dues like that with a friend. I find it interesting that we both have totally different styles and when I would be there at a shoot and I saw his pictures on his camera I would be able to edit them, in my head, and in his style. I knew what they would look like by applying the look he loves. I doubt I could ever actually edit that picture in his style of course. I would keep changing it to my style…not better, just different.

Since I was busy with ham radio antenna work, and finishing up the AC unit, there was less editing this week. So, I’ll toss in some of my older favorites to thicken the gravy.

Until next week…Enjoy and stay safe.

Dave
