Greetings,

Good day, fellow planet dwellers. The sun continues to spew out warmth to our little spec for another of our rotations as we go about our lives. Today, EIGHT billion humans will scurry around, each having their own drama today that can include anything from hunting their next meal to hugging their child as they head for school to boarding a spaceship and getting ready for flight. We tend to be a busy bunch.

We make our lives more complicated than they need to be. Eat some, love some, nap some, pet something, smile at everyone, listen intently when they talk, and take a moment to think about what you are about to say. Sleep. Repeat.

I feel thankful for those who can keep a straight face while being intent on making me smile…or laugh out loud. A fine example is hearing a podcast about how the earth is flat being broadcast on satellite radio. I believe I started finding the hypocrisy funny when shaking my head so often made me dizzy. Laughing and smiling are good. And I have shellfish if I want to be dizzy, so there you have it.

The ramblings of an old man before he’s had his breakfast.

A week ago, I announced the return of the training session like we did last year at Studio at Boulder Mountain. We had ten spots available, and only a week later, we are down to only four remain! I will say that Elley and I put on an excellent show. She is inventive, understands the light and angles, and it is a beautiful environment, to be sure. It will be on June 17th from 10 am to 3 pm. For $300 every attendee will walk away with a memory card full of outstanding shots. It may well be another year before we do this again. If you are a photographer and want to sign up, HERE YOU GO!

This week’s video covers three sets of Ruby, a traveling model that I created with last week. It is short and to the point of showing the process and the results. I’ve always loved that method of showing behind the scenes. Notice how she knew her job and gave me pose after pose yet accepted direction instantly if I asked for something. When someone says they are a model, I assume they know how much work and preparation it takes to do that job. It is mentally exhausting to constantly consider what one looks like to the camera, stay in the light, and think about the next pose while waiting for the flash, FLASH, repeat.

Stay open-minded and curious, my friends!

Dave
