This week in the life…

Greetings,

I was just thinking. If I was one of those who participated in ‘hump day’ by posting someone’s bottom every Wednesday, I expect I’d have a gold metal or a Nobel at this point. In any case, here is another Wednesday and another Museletter.

Alas, getting my systems all reset and ready for editing took way longer than I wanted or expected. BUT, I’m happy to say I did manage to get all 597 shoot folders backed up off of a drive that is highly questionable. It takes the drive 30 minutes to show up on my computer and I get a warning telling me to make a copy ASAP because it’s going to crash. It took 5 days of constant backing up. Whew! It’s done. This week I will be re-organizing what RAID drives I have, making sure I not only have a full backup of everything (and some things 3 times), but I’ll be fine tuning both of my editing stations with the customizations I’m used to. Both computers were brought back to factory settings for one reason or another. That was like being in the middle of the Pacific without a sail or paddles.

So, once again, this week will have over 30 older images pulled from the archives. Forgive me if some may have been in recent Museletters. I can’t really keep track but I do try. I have been missing my editing time in a serious way. By tomorrow evening I expect I’ll have everything back to my comfortable editing configurations and back at it. I’ll do my best to have at least a dozen new edits for y’all by next week.

Meanwhile, I have a treat for you, assuming you have an hour and a half to listen. (Popcorn?). Elley Cat and I were asked for an interview by Liam of Liam Photography. We had a total blast and I learned something about Elley and I that I didn’t know. She bought up some of her favorite and/or most memorable art we have created together and behold, those are in this week’s gallery. So, you can listen to Liam’s podcast and have the gallery open and check out the images she is talking about.

Listen to Elley, Liam, and I here.

And a shout out to Liam for inviting us. As you will hear, we had fun.

My only other plans for this week will be to make a training video to give some detailed information and demonstrations of the backup systems I will have in place. I should be embarrassed that I have a total of 128 terabytes of total disk drive space here. Not bad for something I do for the fun of it.

Oh, and I posted this on FB, but on the geekier side of things, I designed a little electronic circuit, made two prototypes, and designed a circuit board to make more of them. I’d never had boards made before and they are nothing shot of geek art to me. I’m excited! My plan is to have kits available for ham operators that want to build their own, and assembled ones for those who don’t have time. It is something that is fairly common expect that my design has one special feature the others don’t have so I hope it helps a lot of hams enjoy their hobby that much more.

Linda and I are a little over 2 weeks away from our second jab in the arm. I’m already getting the studio ready for shooting again. Might be a month from now, but the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter.

Stay safe. Be true to yourself and your goals. And pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. He’s no wizard.

Dave
