This week in the life…

Greetings!

Fellow isolationists!!

I really, really miss being around other people. Especially the amazing people in my circle of friends, models, photographers, and artists. I hope the ‘new normal’ doesn’t consist of distancing like this because I’m sure I won’t like that at all. As I’m sure you all wouldn’t either. But, enough about solitary confinement…on to more pleasant things. Art.

Yesterday I revisited Alexandria’s shoot with me at Bonita Creek. This spot (banner above) isn’t there now, at least not like that. Two flash floods have rearranged the boulders and sent the green down stream. It will grow back and I hope to shoot there again someday. This was a very fun day. She fit in nature perfectly and was up for whatever I asked of her. And soon she’s getting married and I’m super happy for her.

And, of course, there’s Elley (right) and a couple new images of her this week. Since we spent so much time last year doing classes and traveling together and doing a bunch of shoots, I really miss having her around. On the 11th of this month she’ll be shooting with a few photographers in my studio and I hope to get some new work with her if she has a spare moment. Busy young lady.

Another young lady I was honored to work with was Michelle (the one on the right wearing a pony tail). It’s been years ago and she’s now a wife and mother of two beautiful kids. When we first shot those many years ago, probably 8 or 9, we had a shoot that lasted 7 hours. We created so much work…we had to stop because we were both exhaused. It is true that our brains get just as tired from the stress of creation. I think we got together several more times for more artistic sessions before she moved on with her life. I did get to film her being proposed to and some wonderful maternity shots.

As I’ve said many times before, one of the most rewarding things about being a fine art photographer is that I get to meet such talented people and we joke, laugh, dream up things to create, and often become friends. Some just for the day, and a few for a lifetime. All are missed when we aren’t creating. All are remembered fondly.

Linda and I have been in Chandler for a few weeks now, and last week we got results from a Rona test since we had been exposed. It was negative thankfully. It taught us to be more careful. We’ll be here for another couple weeks, with a few days back up at Bonita next week in the middle. We’ve done some serious cleaning and trimming around the place here in Chandler. Looks lived in instead of the house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. When we get to Bonita it’ll be a few weeks of trimming back trees to be ready in case of a fire. It’s always fun to crank up the chain saw and then count my fingers when I’m done.

You all stay safe, wear that mask proudly…like the fashinistas you all are. And I’ll have more art and stories for you next week.
