Greetings,

Well, today was a busy day starting at 5:30am. That’s when my irrigation system popped a big hole in it in Chandler and I knew this because the sweet little neighbor lady was pacing around on my driveway trying to figure out what to do. I saw her on the camera. She knew we were away. And something seems to be wrong with our Ring doorbell because it won’t let us talk with anyone so I couldn’t calm her fears. I called my son who lives just a few miles away and he came and turned off the water to the house. We headed down to survey the damage and thank the neighbor. As much as I tried to use some kind of remote control to turn off the water…nope, not this time. So, four hours of driving…and it was hot down there. But all is well. Nothing like a little adventure in our lives.

Some new edits mixed with some classics this week. I had a chance to shoot with Michelle after something like four years off making babies and other life changing things. I was her first shoot for her comeback so I was proud of that. And nthe images turned out great. I’ll mix some new and old images of her this week.

On Saturday, Tim is coming up with a model to shoot here at Bonita. That should be fun of course. Today the forest opened (no fires still) so I expect we may have a few hikers wander by any shooting we do by the creek. Hey, we were there first. ;). And still two more shoots coming up later in the month, one being a 2 day class. All exciting.

A while back I bought an Apple M1 13” because it was blazing fast. I didn’t realize how it really couldn’t run Lightroom or Photoshop well yet. Adobe had to re-write those to work with M1 natively. So, for that and other reasons, I let Linda use my mighty M1 until such time as Adobe was ready for prime time. Well, it is, or is very close, so…she has the 13” Macbook air and I have the 13” Macbook Pro M1. I’ll let y’all know how it goes. I start editing with it tomorrow.

Last week I had to rearrange my antennas up here in the forest and in the process I tripped and crashed like an old guy who forgot how to walk. I survived, my arm is still sore, but nothing swelled up so I don’t think I broke anything this time. Even my pride isn’t bruised because no one saw me do my graceful dance to the dirt. So don’t tell anyone.

Since the forest is open again I’ll start doing a couple miles of walking in the mornings. Walking along the creek can actually get cold in the mornings. No complaints here!

On Sunday we head to the valley for a couple shoots. I get to work with a wonderful model and dancer on Sunday and my friend Colby is coming on Monday to shoot with Michelle. The hard part is staying in my office and letting them have all the fun. I can do it! Probably. Maybe.

And our big purchase for the week is a smokeless fire pit. Pricey but we might actually sit around a fire if we aren’t choaked out or smell like the fire for days later. I’ll include pictures if and when we can actually use it.

Until next week, be safe, happy, cool, and hydrated.

Dave
