Greetings,

I’m convinced. Being an artist is keeping me young. Okay, mentally and physically healthier and happier than if I wasn’t creating art. My body is still going to cross the 70 year mark later this year, but that’s not something I can do anything about. Time happens. And it kinda’ has to in order to keep everything from happening at once, right?

I work with a lot of young people. To be honest, there aren’t that many people out there, especially in the photographic art world, that are older than me. The youth is energizing. Besides reminding me often how I was at younger ages, it often gives me the goal to keep up with the youth. If we are hiking I need to be able to keep up. Staying active is important to me and having the stamina to be creative through an entire shoot is paramount. It’s harder to do, but certainly worth the effort.

Other than the couple days of more heat than normal, it’s been nice up here at Bonita Creek. Cool breezes and 84 degree highs. It was so cool last night that I couldn’t sit on the deck swing and fall asleep because the breeze was very cold. Enough rubbing our weather in.

I had a nice shoot with Nik Cola on Monday. Only a couple of edits so far because yesterday Robert French and Violet came up and I hosted them as a shoot location. So, lots of fun, pressure, and a couple naps to keep up. I also took a few minutes to shoot with Violet, although I rarely intrude on a shoot that someone else came up to do.

Things are going to be slow up here for the next week and a half. Well, as far as I know right now. Between editing at night and working on my new antenna during the day, I’ll be keeping busy for sure. My next scheduled shoot is a week from Saturday. It is a lady I’ve shot a couple times before and they travel all the way from Missouri, so I’m honored. And she’s beautiful, so there you go.

Work has begun on my monster antenna as I mentioned. Linda and I have pretty much cleaned off the 10 years of bird crap and I’m working on re-wiring the control cables and coax, replacing 10 years of sun rot on what was on it. And the sanding and painting starts this week. I’m actually hoping to have the antenna ready to put on the tower by Sunday. I haven’t figured out HOW to get that done, although my 55’ tower cranks down to 22’ and then tilts over so the top of the tower literally comes to me. No tower climbing for this old fart. This new antenna is going to open up my abilities to aim my signal in a specific direction, both receive and transmit. When you can do that it increases the range considerably and reduces a lot of the noise and interference and makes the signals stronger. My current antennas are 130 foot wires. And that’s it. Simple, but effective. Wish me luck. I’ll certainly post a picture when it’s on it’s perch.

Oh, and images in the gallery SHOULD all be new ones. I have a process to try to keep from publishing the same ones over again, but that process has had a couple of bumps. Sorry if there are any repeats.

So, until next Wednesday, enjoy the art all around you!

Stay cool and happy!

Dave
