Greetings,

The feature this week is a single shoot with two lovely ladies. Both are exceedingly beautiful in flesh and heart. They have moved on with their lives, as have so many I’ve worked with. I think the main reason I always look for the good in any situation is the realization that people I’ve met through photography will move along in their lives. Instead of being sad about it, I cherish the time we had together to create art and feel the joy that came with that time. After all, I still have thousands of images I can go back and edit of those same people.

It gives me a different outlook when I have the honor of working with someone for the first or the twentieth time. I know that any shoot may be the last one with that person, so I always put a little extra thought and effort into it.

Back to these beautiful photos. I don’t believe these ladies had met before the shoot. Yet, they posed together like they were sisters or very close friends. I’m not terribly detailed when I give posing instructions. I let the model or models run with the pose I put them in. In the case of a couple of these images, I told them to sit together and be close. Or, lay down head to foot, and then I let them rock that look. I rely on the model bringing the image that last mile, or last inch, to make it what it becomes. I believe I get more genuine results when the model is free to express and experiment.

It has been a little over a week since we returned from our month-long vacation. We are already missing the hikes and visits with friends and the sightseeing. We have another shorter trip planned for next month. Yesterday, I was sitting in the trailer doing some measuring, and I felt so at home, and it brought back so many adventures we’ve already had with it.

Always look for the bright side.

How to handle an argument. Stop and listen. Ask questions. And always consider you could be wrong. And maybe negotiate?

To be a great conversationalist, ask questions and listen. Repeat.
