Greetings,

The transition. Changing our lives from living in Bonita in relative solitude to living in the burbs in Chandler. I’ll miss summers and the seemingly busy days that often have naps scattered in for quick charges.

After losing 40 pounds, I’ve found I am very comfortable in the hammock now, and napping there is wonderful. And this summer, we did hang two new swings and ordered some new padding for the 20-year-old faithful deck swing we’ve had since day one at Bonita. Wearing out deck swings…isn’t that every human’s goal at some point? If not, it should be.

I had a wonderful shoot with Keriann last week. I wasn’t sure what we would do, but I was determined to do some things I hadn’t tried at Bonita before. The problem with that is, discovering what I hadn’t tried. If I knew what would be an awesome idea I would have tried it, right? This is the fun part. Stepping back, looking at an old place, and imagining other ways to use it. I’m pleased to report we did a pretty good job coming up with new looks. Of course, those will now be on the list of things I can do at Bonita.

Today will be great fun as we have Elley Cat coming to spend some time with us. Actually, she’s here for some actor gathering, but we’ll pretend she’s just here to see us. (grin). We will certainly get a shoot in, although it’s always fun to figure out just what we’ll do that we haven’t done before. But we always do. She’s very creative and seems to remember every outfit and pose we’ve ever done before. And we want to do another video interview to share with all of you, so that will be fun too.

Like many people I’ve shot so many times before, I often need a nap after seeing everything we had done all at once. The list of Elley’s shots is getting long. It’ll never be long enough. The same goes for many of the beautiful ladies I’ve worked with.

Yes, I know how lucky I am.

This week's gallery is a random set of images I’ve picked that I particularly love. Of course, they are far from my only favorites because I think the last count was over five thousand finished/editing images in the collection. I just want to have some fun scrolling through them.

There was a time many years ago that Linda and I would be walking through the mall, and when we’d pass Victoria’s Secret, I would gaze at the posters and hope that I could be that good with my photography someday. Today I wonder what they were thinking when they shot that because it is not what I would consider all that good, even for advertising. Probably because it isn’t art and that’s my world after over a decade of passion and focus. I pulled out an old Playboy magazine and flipped through it the other day. There was a time I would have been impressed but not so much anymore. Heck, I don’t even find it inspiring. Fully lit pictures of ladies in very obvious poses. I didn’t see any connection between the models and the viewer. Eye contact was just not there. I’m not bragging. Art comes in so many forms and what I do is simply just one of them. I feel the fall of the famous magazines like that happened because there wasn’t all that much ‘style’ going on. Gratuitous peeks at nudity are all over the net. If any one of them had pushed the limits and had a unique style, I think they would still have an offline market.

The other day I started having problems with our Wyze outdoor cameras. They were always a bit questionable, but they just bricked on me. After spending half a day trying everything, I contacted the company. They ran me around for an hour trying things i’d already done. The first thing I asked them for was for a download file to update them. The run around was amazing until I told them I was done with Wyze. Then, I get the file. Still not fixed so off to the trash. After much research I found the Eufy brand and they are miles ahead of Wyze. So, something else to geek over.

Stay cool, happy, and healthy!

Dave
