Greetings,

We are speeding towards the holidays like a bullet train now. It won’t be long before it’s 2022. Let’s all hope ’22 is better than the last two.

In light of the number of new edits I have piled up over the last couple weeks, this issue will have all new images. I do enjoy highlighting a single model in some issues. It focuses on a specific beauty and the range of art that we created. But, I was busy and can’t let the edits backup.

The last weekend, as well as Monday, I had three shoots, a shoot a day. A quick spirt of bygone days of 4 or 5 shoots a week. I have another one coming up tomorrow with the amazing Taylor (top banner and legs in the gallery) and then Saturday I get to shoot on location with Nikole Michelle. That will be fun. Then it is quiet time for this guy. We’ll be heading to Bonita soon and I’ll be doing some electronics projects and designs as well as editing new images from those shoots. At least one from each shoot is in this issue.

I’m working on the video editing of “Wide Open” that Colby and I shot. I was fretting over getting all of the videos synced up. We took 4 angles of videos as well as a main audio track. Well, I dug into the training (searched Youtube in other words) and found my fears are unfounded. As always, nothing is ever as difficult as we made it in our heads. It turns out I just pile all of the videos together and tell it to sync them up with the audios from each. Boom! Now I have one nice track with the main video and by simply watching it I can push the numbers 1,2,3, and 4 to switch the cameras on the fly and it builds the video. Like I’m sitting in a control room just switching in what cameras I want. This is going to be awesome and easy. Making it classy…well, we are just two old retired guys having fun, so we shall see.

Over the last few weeks I’ve released three new training sessions for my subscribers. That’s always fun, especially with my new Yeti X mic. That thing has amazing sound. I may start incorporating a camera on me as well as the screen so I can switch back and forth and explain things in person instead of just a voice. Now I know how easy that is!

On January 8th I’m having a class here at the studio with Arianna. It will be a lighting class and it will be for up to 6 photographers for 5 hours. The entire proceeds are going to her education fund. Being a single mother of three wonderful children, she could use the assistance. So, a student can learn some lighting tips, get some great shots, and help a young lady with her education on top of it all.

If you are interested, here is a link to sign up.

And if you aren’t a photographer but would like to see what a shoot is like and how amazing Arianna is, here is a BTS video of one of our shoots together. It was a wonderful day!

On the geek side of things…. Many of you know I love morse code. Yes, it is alive and well and some of us still enjoy that old art form of communications. I can copy about 35-40 words per minute in my head. I can’t write that fast of course. But I can just listen to a conversation as if the people are just talking to me. I’ve been doing it since I was 15, so, a very long time.

Well, that said, I jumped onto a little project some guys put together that let people talk with each other using morse code over the internet. So, I can basically select someone on a special website that I’d like to chat with. It connects the little box that has a key and speaker on my desk, and we can chat using code. No license required and no background noise from the radio, and that’s kinda’ nice. So, that’s my latest geek project.

What I’m most excited about is that I’ll soon be able to get a second one of these and the other one will be at my radio at Bonita. Then, whatever I send code with the key in Chandler, the box at Bonita will key my radio up there. That will be remote control heaven.

And today I had a wonderful day visiting with an old high school buddy. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Enough jabbering for now.

Until next week, enjoy!!! And stay safe.

Dave
