Greetings,

How can it be June already? Granted, this June is far better than last June. And a year ago time seemed to go so slow. Now it is gaining speed and getting back to some kind of normal. I figure a lot of people were hit hard and they may not see the same normal they had. My normal didn’t involve a job, having kids at home schooling, or the worry about the future. Linda and I feel exceptionally lucky yet we understand how life has changed for so many.

Things are so normal that I just had to bring up my calendar to help remember everything that happened in the last week. A birthday shoot with Jami, a maternity shoot, and a shoot with Nikki. And I’m way behind on editing. That last part screams ‘normal’. Saturday I have a commercial shoot, a nice deviation from my usual, and then the weekend of the 12th is super busy as Tayler does a bunch of 1on1 shoots with photographers in studio a couple hours at a time. Then the following week I have a two day 1on1 class and the weekend after that we have Kileen coming to Bonita for the weekend and what will undoubtedly be an amazing shoot there. That still leaves a bunch of days in the middle where other shoots might form. Maybe I should start naming the shoots like hurricanes. ;)

Yeah, normal can happen.

For the last few days the studio, and whole house, has been a mess. Between acquiring some new modifiers and lighting from a good friend, and finally being fed up with how cramped the studio has gotten, it was time to make some changes, no matter that my back felt about the idea. Today is the day things get finished up in the move. It seems like the studio is 3 times bigger now, and there is actually a bed under the low window for bedroom work, and a set of French doors to shoot against. More pictures hung in my studio office and a new sound system that seems to work very well. It’s going to feel great working in that environment.

I now have more than enough light stands, lights, and modifiers to equip Bonita Creek with an impressive array of gear for classes and shoots. So that’ll be fairly active in the cooler weather in the summers.

The interaction with people has been a breath of fresh air. I’m sure many of you can relate to that. I’ve also been spending time with Tayler and Elley some the last week as well as all of the beautiful people in our shoots. People need people.

Most of the art this week are new edits. I’m not sure where that time came from, but I enjoyed every second.

I will never be able to express my gratitude to those who find it in their hearts to work with me. To be able to touch the hearts and minds of a few young people, and converse with them as equals, is worth everything to someone in the fall of their life. It makes me feel young again. Thank you.

If you are a photographer and have a few hours open June 12th, Tayler will be here shooting. There are two 2 hour slots left in the afternoon and they are $200. I’ll be here to operate the lights and be a helping hand. No charge for the studio or lights, so that’s a great deal. Just let me know.

Until next week…Enjoy and stay safe.

Dave
