Greetings,

Talk about perfect weather here in Arizona. Even the nights aren’t cold enough to close doors and windows. Nice to have fresh air flowing through the house.

Lately, I’ve had several people contacting me to get creative and shoot. It pains me to express my excitement, yet turn them down for now, because of this virus thing. Linda and I have done our best to avoid becoming a statistic for over a year now. Or be a burden to the system, or be the reason someone else might die. I feel a bit like I’m hiding like a frightened child at times. But, we are looking for options to get shots, and I hope that, after that, still masked, I can open the studio again and carefully get back to being creative. I appreciate everyone who has asked but understood my reasons for waiting.

The ‘working from home’ has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even when I worked for Tempe, I had 4/10 work weeks, and 2 of those days worked from home. Being a Webmaster didn’t require me to be anywhere physically, as long as I had a laptop and a connection. So, we’ve gone through our share of office chairs and desks.

So, when my chair started having trouble with the wheelbase becoming unstable, another similar chair would ‘deflate’ as I was sitting in it, and yet a third we had here was so worn that the fake leather was flaking off; I did some research on chairs. Not to replace these but to fix them. Behold, I discovered they had a standard, and you can easily buy parts or interchange the bottom parts of the chairs I had already. So now we have two chairs that are as good as new, and one trashed one. That works for me.

I’ve been doing that a lot lately. Our UTV up at Bonita had a big nail in the tire. My first thought was to replace the tires. I expect the tires have a few more good years in them so, I pulled out the tire patch kit and fixed it myself. I kinda’ like not having to send things to the landfill if I can help it—visions of ‘Wally’ dance in my head when I toss something out.

So, I got some lovely new art edited this week. And sharing some older ones, some just edited differently. I included some before with the after shots for fun.

And for those interested, the Zoom gathering will be tomorrow, February 4th, and we’ll talk about lighting. I’ll have the studio set up to show how lighting works. It’s relatively straightforward, but it does take time to turn it into a talent. We’ll talk about how to reverse engineer images to tell how they were lit up. That’s an essential part of lighting. It should be fun.
