This week in the life…

Greetings,

I hope this issues finds you all safe and relatively sane. Four days ago Linda and I got our second shot of Moderna and all went as expected. Sore arms, Linda slept the whole next day and night, and I had chills the first night. Day two, pretty much back to our usual abnormal life but with a bit more hope that we will be able to leave our hobble to see family and friends sooner than later. I hope you all either have had your chance or take it when it is offered.

For those who might be buying into the fear of being tracked, sterilization, or some kind of change in their DNA? Let me point out Smallpox, Polio, Diphtheria, Mumps, Measles, and Rubella. All gone because we took them out with science. And 200 years ago, if you lived past 40 you were OLD!! So, this is just my plea to those people to participate in the planet, not just the tribe.

Back to the fun stuff.

Much of this week’s art is new. Some are reworks of past images, and some are more new ones from previous sets. I’ve been working on some that were promised to people and those were not art, so that took some of my time. Yesterday I felt a bit depressed. I miss my creative life and all of the dust it kicked up around me. I hope I still have some artistic juice for a few more years. This morning I revisited a years old shoot with Elley and edited three new ones and they turned our beautiful and perfect fits my craving to make art. And it helped my mood.

I have some sessions scheduled for the next month and I am SO looking forward to filling some memory cards with fine tuned ones and zeros. I expect I’ll be slowing down during a shoot, savoring the moment of creation, looking for that special moment of expression, and capturing what I can, while I can. I am sticking to my guns on limiting my art to…my art. In the last week I’ve turned down four people asking me to shoot things I don’t care to shoot. Frankly, if it’s not my own ideas and art, it may as well be shot with a cell phone because I’m not much better than a selfie outside my box. I don’t feel that I have the time left to do things that don’t fulfill me.

I know, I sound like Downer Davie today. We all have our moods, especially the last year or so. But I can feel change coming for myself and all of us. Change for the good. Funny that the change is to get back to what we took for granted before. I think there will be more smiles. More people helping people. More flower smelling and a general reassessment for what is important. Road trips…just because.

And for some geek time. I picked up a new 17” LG Gram laptop a few days back. Everything I have is Apple with Windows on virtual machines so I could do Windows but it wasn’t the same as having a native Windows computer. It’s really for my ham radio because a lot of the programs for that are exclusively on Windows. And my Arduino projects. But mostly an excuse to get another toy and learn something new. Having a 17” laptop that is under 3 pounds with an amazingly bright and colorful screen will always seem magical to me.

Well, enjoy the lovely creatures I’ve photographed. Soon I hope to have some new images to work from. Not that having a stock of 19 terabytes of past shoots wasn’t a blessing for the last year.

Stay safe!! Be happy! And to the question “Are we there yet?!?” Almost!
