Greetings,

Well, it’s been a week of near normalcy for me. I taught two classes and rented out the studio twice, and visited with friends a couple times. Still washing my hands and wearing a mask when asked, by the person or the location. We are still in a pandemic and a vast number of people have chosen to not protect themselves with the vaccine, so most of this has been based on trust. The amount of misinformation about this and so much more out there is mind boggling to say the least.

So, not a lot of editing this week. Between spending a couple days teaching classes, and a couple days visiting with friends, that cuts into the sit time at the editing workstation.

The main class was full with 8 participants. I should have called it a natural light session because we only used the flash once to have the light show up on the model through the blinds. Other than that, each spot I picked for them to shoot in was well lit by natural light. Since the home we shot at faced the west, I had the class shoot the pool last, since it was in the back yard. I think everyone had fun and I know they left with memory cards FULL of beautiful images. 99% because Liz Ashley, our model for the day, did an amazing job at being both beautiful and a total pro at posing for 8 people at ones.

And then there were the visitors. Tayler came to visit and we did a lot of talking about her future and life. We never actually shot this trip. And Elley was here for a couple nights so we had a relative crowd here a couple nights. It’s nice to have the room to let our friends come stay with the old people once in a. while. (grin). I did shoot with Elley because she’d had 3 shoots that day, one was for a 1on1 class of mine, so we shot that evening so she could say she had four photo shoots that day. I could use 10% of her energy.

Then my daughter came to visit a couple days before she drove to Tucson to visit her school, U of A, that she’s been tele-schooling with for a long while now. That will be exciting for her and she’ll be meeting some of the people she’s met there. And possibly hang out with Tayler since that’s her home turf. Both are non-deductible daughters at this point.

Tonight I’ll be giving a Zoom presentation to the participants of Saturday’s class. Time to share some editing techniques and answer some questions. It is heart warming to have people tune in for training without a beautiful model around. I’m sure the models are more of an attraction than this old guy, so there you go.

So, this week will have some older art mixed in with what I did have a chance to create.

Until next week…Enjoy and stay safe.

Dave
