Greetings,
Before I delve into my California trip and the fun and creativity that ensued, I need to address Arizona House Bill 2112, which took effect on the 26th of last month. Basically, websites that have porn (sexual material that is harmful to minors) now need to verify the visitor’s age before allowing them to visit. No, I don’t have porn on my website. Some feel that anything they choose to be offended by is then porn. How could it not be? They choose to be offended by it; thus, they need validation by keeping others from having to make the choice to be offended. That’s been the world for decades, but now there are laws designed to allow sites to be fined and taken down.
The most concerning is the last line in the bill. “Provides that the penalties against an entity in violation of this Act are to be awarded to a successful plaintiff”. So, I expect people will start to look for sites that may qualify and then try to cash in on turning them in.
I’ve been hinting at this possibility since January, and here we are. The days of the Museletter are indeed numbered.
I have been in the process of updating this website to have a ‘membership’ feature. It could be as simple as $20 for life, with a scan of your driver’s license to verify, and as stated in the bill, the verification will be deleted. Kinda’ makes it hard to prove you verified, but hey, laws are often stupid like that. The bill text.
It might be time to base Dave Kelley Artistic out of Canada?
California
That was a long week visiting friends, family, and shooting three extraordinary ladies. Of course, some beach shots and one day of walking 8.9 miles in the sun and strong ocean breezes. This issue will have a few from that trip, of course. I did miss being able to edit while I was over there. It seemed that every minute was consumed by shooting, driving, or eating. And, of course, sleeping.
Overall, it was great fun to drag my light out into nature and see what I could capture. I’m always a little on edge, hoping I bring home some decent shots. There are always enough reasons to make a trip and effort worthwhile.
As I’ve said many times before. Creating is fun and good for my soul. But the teasing and banter between the model and me are what I enjoy the most.
We did have an interesting drive home. Just into Arizona, we saw two 18-wheelers jackknifed and a Tesla that drove off the freeway and slammed pretty hard into a tree about 50 feet off the road. Self-driving? If so, it was obviously not a good idea. I hope everyone made it.
A little later, Linda and I spotted what was unmistakably a dust storm ahead. That telltale brown of blowing dust. Yet, it was raining on us pretty hard. Sure enough, we hit the dust storm, and the windshield wipers were taking mud off the windshield. Crazy!!
Until next week? Maybe?
